Kaya Tiwi Retains Basketball Title, Malindi Claims Boys’ Trophy in Coast Region Finals Kaya Tiwi Secondary School from Kwale County successfully defended the Coast Region girls’ basketball 3X3 title after defeating St John’s Kaloleni 15-3 in the final of the regional Term Two games held in Mpeketoni, Lamu County. Meanwhile, Kaya Tiwi’s boys’ team fell short, losing 21-14 to Malindi High School in the boys’ final. In rugby, Serani Secondary School from Mombasa advanced to the semifinals of the rugby 7s tournament after a narrow 7-0 victory over Mghalu Boys. Kwale High School exited the competition following a 22-5 defeat to Mwangeka Secondary School. Bishop Baldacchino Secondary School and Waa Boys also secured semifinal spots after winning their quarterfinal matches against Alidina Visram (12-10) and Waa Boys (15-12), respectively. In girls’ rugby 7s, defending champion Hadija Harris led her team into the semifinals against Paa Girls, while Shimba Hills, coached by Doreen Paul Mwashumbe, advanced after defeating Mvindeni Secondary. Shimba Hills are now on a redemption path and will compete in the final. In boys’ volleyball, Waa Boys narrowly lost 3-2 to Msambweni Secondary School in a thrilling semifinal match. St. Mary’s Mpeketoni and Jaribuni Boys also reached the semifinals, with Jaribuni defeating Waa Boys in a five-set thriller. Jaribuni will face Mwajubamba in the final, while Waa Boys and Mpeketoni will compete for third place. In netball, Kaya Tiwi will face Moi Forces in the final after defeating Menzamwenye 74-41 in the semifinals. Moi Forces secured their spot by beating Kizurini 57-26. Menzamwenye and Kizurini will vie for the bronze medal. All finalists have qualified for the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) National Term Two games, scheduled to take place in Kakamega from July 2 to August 2.
